Lake Lowndes State Park where you will find award-winning hiking trails, such as the Opossum Trail, a 5.6-mile trail with a self-guided tour outlining native plants, trees, and wildlife in the park. Located on a beautiful 150-acre lake, the park provides limitless opportunities for activity.

Fishing on the Tombigbee River Lock and Dam. The Columbus Lock and Dam is just a short walk away with some of the best fishing in the area at your finger tips. Catfish, bass and crappie are just some of many options of fish you can go for.

The Columbus Pilgrimage Tours, held annually in the Spring, are the perfect opportunity to become enriched in historical knowledge of the Civil War. Information on these tours can be found at the local welcome center, also known as the previous home of Tennessee Williams.

Cheering on the Bulldogs! Columbus is situated just a short drive from Starkville, home of Mississippi State University. If you are looking for an economical place to stay near Starkville, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of a college town then Columbus is the place for you.
